Charleston, South Carolina is a city steeped in history and renowned for its charm, elegance and romance. THE WATER IS FINE

A trip to Charleston Harbor wouldn’t be complete without activities focused on water.

Whirlin’ Waters Adventure Water Park

Splash in Charleston’s newest 15 acre island-style water Park. This is the largest recreational site in the city and is open every day during the summer.

Cruise the Harbor

There are many boating opportunities and you don’t have to look far to find them. The SpiritLine Cruise yacht, for example, affords families the chance to see the sights from a different angle. Spectacular harbor views and wildlife are just a few of the many joys of the tour. There are even Fort Sumter tours, dinner cruises, harbor tours and private charters. The Marina is breathtaking – as shown in the photo below.

Famous Lighthouses

Two famous lighthouses in the area come to mind. The first (pictured on the left) is the Morris Island Lighthouse in Folly Beach. This 3-story structure was first lit in 1876 although it does not burn today. Efforts continue to preserve its historic importance. The New Charleston Lighthouse (pictured to the right) is located on Sullivans Island. It was built in 1962 to replace the Morris Island Lighthouse. Its unusual 3-sided shape distinguishes it from other structures. It is also famous for having the brightest light Sullivans Island Lighthouseever installed in a lighthouse. Morris Island Lighthouse
